Young Mensa North are invading Edinburgh, with our very first event in Scotland. We're having a laidback afternoon in some of the city's iconic pubs, which should provide a good relaxing setting for us all to get to know each other.
Perhaps some of you will be in town anyway for the Fringe; feel free to pop in and join us, even if it's only for part of the day. This should be a great chance to meet people from around Scotland, as well as some visitors from England, and it'll be the start of a more regular set of Scottish Young Mensa events.
Cloisters Bar, Edinburgh, 14:00, Sunday 13th August 2017
We'll start off in Cloisters Bar, a cosy pub with many traditional features from its time as the All Saints Parsonage. Cloisters serves food until 4pm, so feel free to grab some lunch while we're there. More imprortantly, they have an impressive whisky collection.
Later in the afternoon we'll move on to Burlington Bertie, a charmingly grimy and dim little old man pub, tucked away down a nearby side street, which offers a good selection of cheap whisky and ales.
No doubt we'll wander over somewhere suitably local for dinner afterwards, based on group consensus - of course we'll post our plans on our Facebook event and our Telegram group, for any late-comers to catch up with us.
Cloisters is an easy walk from the centre of Edinburgh, and the train stations. The Meadows nearby makes for a nice walk on the way to the pub. If you're inclined to use buses, there are stops nearby on Lothian Road for most buses, and the number 24 bus stops directly outside Cloisters.
If you need help finding us then you can call or text the Phone Robot for directions (or even encouragement - no, really, try it): 0144 360 6367
We also always keep an eye on our Telegram group at the start of our events so you can get in touch with us there.
