Liverpool Meetup, 28 May 2016

We've had a lot of meetings around central Manchester, so now it's time to travel a little further afield. After a poll on our Facebook group, it seems clear that the second-most in-demand location, aside from Manchester city centre, is Liverpool... so that's where we're going!

Rookwood Bar & 'Cue, Liverpool, 5pm, Saturday the 28th of May, 2016.

What & Where

We're going to start at Rookwood Bar & 'Cue, a burger/grill/bar place that does good cocktails. Really, really good cocktails. Perhaps even great cocktails. I don't recall exactly. Last time I was here it was a bit of a blur. In any case, it has a nice ambience, and should have enough seating to accommodate us comfortably. Here's some info from their blog about some of their "must-try" cocktails.

The place does food, obviously, so if it's decent we'll probably hang about there for dinner. Their menu is available online. [pdf]

After that

After dinner, we'll move on and explore a few other local pubs - the Brewdog bar is just round the corner, so we'll probably head there next, assuming it's not too busy. Other favourite spots are Django's Riff and the quirky Motel bar, all a short walk from the location - and we're very open to suggestions from the locals for tips about any hidden gems we may have missed in the area!

In fact, if you have any recommendations for other venues in Liverpool, please leave a comment below, or on our Reddit sub.

Finally, later in the night (something like 11pm) we'll be heading to our friends' club night Elektrode at Bumper, also nearby. This is an underground electronic music night with a very relaxed and friendly vibe that attracts an intellectually mature crowd - a firm favourite of ours.

If you're based in liverpool, I'm sure you'll have no trouble locating our starting venue.

If you're coming from out of town, like many of our current regulars, then the easiest way to get there is by train and a ten minute walk from Liverpool Lime Street (Google Maps directions).

A number of us will be coming by rail from Manchester, so why don't we catch the same train? We'll be getting the 15:37 from Manchester Picadilly to Liverpool Lime Street. Meet us between 15:00 and 15:25 in the Hourglass bar, upstairs at the station (above the cash machines, number 31 on the station map [pdf])

If you get lost

As usual, you can call or text the Phone Robot for assistance, directions and encouragement: 0144 360 6367

We're looking forward to our first official Liverpool outing. See you there!
