It's that time of year again - the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and the Society for Preservation of Beers from the Wood (SPBW) are getting together to present central Manchester with a frankly bewildering array of beers, ales, ciders, perries, porters, stouts, IPAs, florgles and wabbins.
I might have made those last two up.
Manchester Central Convention Complex - 12:00pm, Saturday 25th January 2020
The basic principle is simple - turn up, select beverage, procure and imbibe - but within that, there are variations. Do you go by type of beverage, country of origin, flavour or proximity to your table?
Personally, I'll be going for the ones with the silliest names. Bad Kitty and Déjà Brew, I'm looking at you.
Of course, if beer and cider aren’t your thing, there is also a selection of wine, mead and soft drinks to be enjoyed. There are also some food stands open, so you needn’t be drinking on an empty stomach.
Tickets are £10 each - either on the door or available in advance until midnight on Friday here, including a £3 deposit for your glass. They’ll knock off a pound for concessions including students (full list is on the website) and if you’re a CAMRA/SPBW member, you’ll be presented with £4 worth of beer tokens.
