Every year, Mensa crowns their International Photographer of the Year - could a Young Mensan of the North take 2018's title?
Photography Walk, Manchester, 15:00, Sunday 13th May 2018
The theme for this year's contest is "What a Wonderful World". With this in mind, we have devised a route around Manchester which takes in a mixture of nature, architecture, street art and of course, people.
Whether you are a seasoned professional or have never used a camera beyond that on your phone, all are welcome to come and have a go.
This event has been created to encourage competition entries from the North West, but if you're not bothered about the contest or have already planned your winning entry, please still feel free to come along. There are entry details on the Mensa website.
We'll be meeting in the Ape and Apple, a traditional-style pub with a large selection of beers and whiskies, and a rather bewildering array of crisps behind the bar. It's situated on John Dalton Street, very close to the Town Hall and a short walk from the St Peter's Square tram stop.
We will also stop off at some other bars & pubs en route, to either seek some shade or take shelter, depending on the weather; finishing up in the Castle Hotel on Oldham Street. This is not far from Shudehill or Piccadilly Gardens tram stops and bus stations.
If you are driving then it is up to you whether you'd like to park near the end of the route and then walk to meet us (try the SIP on Mason Street), or near the start of the route and walk back (in which case we'd recommend the Bridge Street Pay & Display).
