Tech Noir is a local indie film and music night - they run regular free showings of cult, dystopian, neo-noir and cyberpunk films.
This time they're showing the Ridley Scott classic Aliens, and they're saving us some space so we can all come along!
Tech Noir: Aliens at Fuel, Withington - Thursday 21st April, 19:30
There are some shorts showing before the main film, so aim to be there for 19:30 to be sure of a seat - and there's music afterwards.
Most of us will know the film, but here's what they say:
It's pretty tough, ney impossible to equal or better a classic film with its sequal. Aliens does, fleshing out the universe Ridley Scott created, respectfully while introducing a stronger element of action and developing greater depth to Ripley, the main protagonist and survivor of the first film.
This is an absoloute classic so you probably know the jist: All that firepower is nowhere near enough...
They're also voting on which film version to show - theatrical or director's cut - so join their poll on their event's Facebook page.
Fuel Cafe Bar in Withington is a local gem, a well known independent music venue and vegetarian cafe. Their bar serves a selection of good drinks including a few weissbiers, good cider and a decent selection of spirits. The venue has a relaxed, bohemian atmosphere.
It's easy to get to and from the centre of town by bus from Oxford Road or Picadilly Gardens. It's also a short walk from Burton Road tram stop, and a similarly short walk from Mauldeth Road train station. An uber from town is cheap, too.
We'll either hang around for a bit or head into town for a drink afterwards. I look forward to seeing you there!
